BALANCE AND STRENGTH TRAINING FOR SENIOR CITIZENS

As we age, reductions in muscle strength and balance reactions leads to mobility limitations. Exercises to improve strength and balance are beneficial for many types of diseases, in addition to keeping muscles strong as we age and preventing falls. Strength training has been proven to reduce slow movements(bradykinesia), muscle stiffness, increase strength and boost memory and focus.

How it Works

We at M&M Bodyworks will design a strength and balance training program to help you improve everyday movements like getting up out of a chair, on and off a curb, and getting on and out of a car. Exercises will improve balance control, with emphasis on strengthening the core muscles and maintaining proper erect posture.
As we age, independent and safe mobility is necessary to maintain quality of life and independence. The combined effect of muscle and balance impairment increases the risk of falling. Decreased physical activity accelerates sarcopenia – related factors such as; loss of muscle mass and strength, while increased physical activity and exercise prevents mobility limitations.
